When can I claim my cashback?
Category: Payments & Claims
Most eligible retail cashback is available to claim within a few minutes. Some transactions, including travel, subscriptions and other transactions subject to review, may require a 30–60 day hold awaiting retailer confirmation. That's the fast end of the cashback industry — many cashback platforms hold cashback in Pending for extended periods before you can touch it. Kick's lifecycle is Earned → Pending → Available to claim → Paid out, and the Pending stage is short for everyday retail and longer only where the retailer's own confirmation rules require it.
How quickly does each stage move?
- Earned → Pending: instant. The moment you complete a purchase after clicking through from your Kick Cashback portal, the cashback is Earned.
- Pending → Available to claim: minutes for most eligible retail (fashion, electronics, beauty, home, food). Hours to days for some categories. Longer for travel, insurance, and subscriptions, and for any offer whose live terms say otherwise.
- Available to claim → Paid out: when you request the payout, claimed cashback is sent to your nominated Australian bank account by direct bank transfer — receiving banks can take 1-3 business days to show the funds.
Tiered claim limits — what they are and why they exist
New Kick accounts have a lower per-transaction claim limit, which increases as the account matures. This protects shoppers from fraud (someone using a stolen identity to open an account, claim cashback, and disappear) and protects Kick from chargebacks. Established accounts have higher limits or none at all. The exact tiers and current limits for your account are shown on your dashboard at kickpay.co.
Why "within minutes" rather than "instant"?
The retailer has to send a confirmation back to the partner network that the purchase has actually been placed (and didn't just abandon at the cart, or get rejected by their fraud system). For most retailers this is automatic and happens within seconds; for a small number it batches every few hours.
What can hold cashback in Pending longer than expected?
- The retailer is in a category with a refund or cancellation window (travel, insurance, subscriptions).
- The retailer's own systems are slow to confirm the sale to the network.
- The order has been flagged for manual review (often happens with high-value purchases).
- The order is being reviewed for return or refund — the cashback unfreezes once the return window passes.
How to request a claim
Sign in at kickpay.co, go to your dashboard, click "Request payout", enter the amount and your Australian bank details (BSB and account number), and confirm. Claimed cashback is sent to your nominated Australian bank account by direct bank transfer (receiving banks can take 1-3 business days to show the funds). You can claim from any device — phone, tablet or desktop.
Important: claims over $500 or flagged orders
Very large claims and orders flagged by Kick's fraud detection require multi-factor authentication before they're released. This is for your protection — it ensures someone who has briefly accessed your account can't drain your cashback to a different bank account. More on payout timing here.
