Is my cashback always guaranteed?
Category: Cashback
Honest answer: the vast majority of cashback tracks without issue, but no cashback platform anywhere in the world can guarantee 100% of clicks will track 100% of the time. The reason is simple — cashback depends on a tiny tracking cookie that's set in your browser the moment you click through from the Kick Cashback portal, and a handful of things outside our control (ad blockers, browser privacy settings, opening another tab mid-purchase) can prevent that cookie from being read at checkout. We use a world-class attribution system to make sure as many clicks track as possible, and we have a missing-cashback claim process for the small number that don't.
The attribution system we use
Kick Cashback's attribution is powered by the same tier-1 partner networks that the world's biggest retailers and cashback platforms rely on — Awin, Commission Factory, Impact, Rakuten Advertising and Partnerize. These networks operate at industry-leading uptime, with redundant tracking across server-to-server postbacks, first-party cookies and last-click attribution standards used globally. When you click Shop with Cashback from your Kick portal, your browser is briefly redirected through the relevant network, a tracking session is opened, and the network records the sale back to Kick when you check out. This is the same tracking plumbing every legitimate Australian cashback platform sits on top of.
What we can guarantee
- Every confirmed sale that comes back to Kick from a partner network is credited to your account.
- The cashback rate shown when you click through is the rate that applies (subject to retailer category exclusions on their store page).
- Once cashback moves to Available to claim, you can request a payout to your Australian bank account at any time, with no minimum threshold.
- If something doesn't track and the cause is on our end, we'll fix it. We have a missing-cashback claim process for cases where you've done everything right but the cashback hasn't appeared.
The honest bit: no merchant confirmation, no cashback
We want to be upfront about this so there are no surprises. Kick can only pay you cashback once the merchant (via their tracking network) confirms your sale to us. That's how the entire model works — the retailer pays Kick a referral commission for sending them a customer, and we pass the majority of that commission back to you as cashback. If the retailer never confirms the sale because the click didn't track, the cashback simply doesn't exist for us to pass on. We're not holding it back — there's nothing there to release.
This is why we always recommend checking your tracking before you shop: pause ad blockers on the retailer's domain, click through fresh from the Kick portal, and complete checkout in the same browser session. If a purchase doesn't track and the merchant won't confirm it on appeal, unfortunately the cashback can't be paid. We'll always tell you straight rather than leaving you wondering.
What can stop a click from tracking
These are the handful of situations where even the best attribution system can't recover the click:
- You didn't actually click through from the Kick portal. Visiting the retailer directly, typing the URL, or using a saved bookmark bypasses the tracking entirely. The click has to start at kickpay.co for the cookie to be set.
- Ad blockers, tracker blockers and strict browser privacy settings. Brave, Firefox with strict tracking protection, and Safari with "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking" enabled all block tracking cookies as a side effect of blocking advertising trackers. Setup guide for ad blockers and cashback tracking.
- Opening a coupon or competitor cashback site after clicking from Kick. Most coupon and rival cashback sites use their own tracking links — clicking one in a new tab overwrites the Kick tracking cookie under the industry-standard last-click attribution rule.
- Switching device or browser mid-purchase. If you click on your phone but check out on your laptop, the tracking cookie set on the phone never reaches the laptop. More on cross-device shopping.
- Waiting too long between click-through and checkout. Tracking cookies typically expire within 24 hours and some within just 60 minutes. Always finish checkout in the same session.
- Buying a category the retailer excludes. Gift cards, sale items, marketplace third-party sellers and a few other categories are excluded by many retailers. The store's page in your Kick portal lists known exclusions.
What to do if a purchase doesn't track
Don't panic. Open the retailer's page in your Kick Cashback portal, click Submit a missing cashback claim, and provide the order number, order date, order total and the email used to receive the order confirmation. We pass the claim to the relevant tracking network for verification and update you when there's an outcome (typically 30-60 days, sometimes faster). Approval isn't guaranteed — that depends on whether the network can confirm the sale on their side — but every claim is investigated. See the full missing-cashback troubleshooting guide.
And if you've been through the troubleshooting checklist and still need help, email info@kickcashback.com with your order details — a real person will look into it.
