How do I close my account and delete my data?

Category: Your Account

You can close your Kick Cashback account at any time. There's no cancellation fee, no notice period, and no minimum membership length. Closing an account also gives you the right to request deletion of your personal data under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Step 1: claim any remaining cashback

Before closure, sign in at kickpay.co and check your balance. If you have any cashback in Available to claim, request a payout to your nominated Australian bank account — funds typically land in 1-3 business days. If you have cashback in Pending, it's worth waiting for it to clear so you don't leave money behind. More on when cashback is claimable.

Step 2: email us to close the account

Send an email to info@kickcashback.com from the email address on your account, with the subject line "Account closure request". Tell us:

  • That you want to close the account.
  • Whether you want any remaining Available cashback paid out before closure (and to which bank account, if it's not the one already on file).
  • Whether you want your personal data deleted as well as the account closed.

We'll confirm receipt within one business day, action the closure, and reply once the account is fully deactivated.

Step 3: data deletion under the Australian Privacy Principles

If you ask us to delete your personal data, we'll remove the personal information we hold (name, email, password hash, contact details, marketing preferences, dashboard activity logs) within 30 days. There are some categories of data Kick Cashback is legally required to retain, even after account closure:

  • Transaction and payment records — typically retained for seven years to satisfy ATO record-keeping requirements and to comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth).
  • bank payout records — retained per the Australian Payments Network direct-credit framework.
  • Records under active dispute — retained until the dispute is resolved.

Retained records are kept in encrypted, access-restricted storage and are not used for any marketing purpose.

Can I reopen the account later?

Yes — you can sign up again at any time using the same email address (or a different one). A reopened account is effectively a new account, with no carry-over of past cashback history or claim limits. You may need to re-verify identity for higher-value claims, the same as any new account.

What about marketing emails only?

If you just want to stop the emails without closing the account, you don't need to email support — see our notification preferences guide.

Our Experience

We are a first-party cashback platform — we work directly with retailers rather than reselling another company's network. Our team negotiates cashback rates, manages partner relationships, and processes payments in-house. According to industry data published by IAB Australia, partner and cashback marketing represented over $1 billion in tracked Australian retail sales in 2024 (source: IAB Australia Online Advertising Expenditure Report). Kick Cashback is part of this growing sector and is committed to passing the majority of retailer commissions back to shoppers as cashback.

Our editorial team draws on direct experience working with major Australian retailers and global partner networks. We publish detailed cashback information, retailer terms, and shopping guides based on first-hand knowledge of how cashback tracking, attribution, and payments work. Where industry standards or regulatory guidance applies — such as the Australian Consumer Law administered by the ACCC, or the Privacy Act 1988 administered by the OAIC — we cite the relevant source so readers can verify our claims.
