What does it cost?
Category: For Businesses
Partnering with Kick Cashback as a merchant costs nothing upfront — Kick is a strictly performance-based channel, so you pay a commission only on confirmed sales that came through Kick. No setup fee, no monthly listing fee, no premium-placement charge, no minimum spend, no annual contract. You set the commission rate (subject to the affiliate network's minimums for your category), and you can adjust or pause it any time.
The pricing model in plain English
Every time a Kick shopper clicks through to your store from the Kick Cashback portal and completes a purchase, the affiliate network records the sale and bills you a commission — the rate you've configured. You pay that commission to the network on the network's normal billing cycle (usually monthly). The network deducts its small share, sends the rest to Kick, and Kick passes the majority to the shopper as cashback while keeping a small share to fund the platform.
Who pays whom
- Shopper pays the retailer the normal price at checkout.
- Retailer pays the affiliate network a commission once the sale is confirmed.
- Affiliate network takes a small share and pays the rest to Kick.
- Kick takes a small share to run the platform and credits the majority to the shopper as cashback.
Setting your commission rate
You set the rate in your affiliate network dashboard. Typical rates by category:
- Fashion, beauty: 4-10% of order value.
- Electronics, home & garden: 1-5%.
- Food & drink, grocery: 1-3%.
- Travel, insurance, finance: 3-15%, often as a fixed dollar amount per booking or policy.
- Software, subscriptions: 10-30% of first-year value.
The right rate depends on your margin, the lifetime value of a Kick-acquired customer, and what your competitors are paying. Kick's partnerships team can advise based on what's converting in your category.
What about non-confirmed sales?
You only pay on confirmed sales. If a shopper clicks through but doesn't buy, you pay nothing. If they buy but later return the item, the affiliate network reverses the commission and you pay nothing for that order. More on how returns flow through.
Are there any other costs?
- Affiliate network fees. The network you partner with may charge a small monthly platform fee or a one-off setup fee — these are between you and the network, not between you and Kick. Most networks are also performance-based.
- Optional sponsored placements. Featured slots on the Kick homepage, category-page banners, and email-newsletter inclusions are available as optional add-ons — these are quoted on a case-by-case basis. The default partnership doesn't include them and you don't need them to be live in the portal.
- No fees for promotional support. Standard editorial features (category listings, search visibility, default rate placement) are included with every partnership.
How does this compare to other marketing channels?
Compared with paid search (where you pay per click whether or not the click converts), social ads (similar), and influencer marketing (often flat fees with no performance guarantee), affiliate-channel cashback is unusually low-risk for the merchant. Money out only when sales come in.
Cancelling or pausing
You can pause or end the partnership at any time, with no notice period. Existing pending commissions are still honoured (the affiliate network controls that), but no new sales will track. Resuming later is just as easy.
