How do I make sure my cashback tracks?

Category: Portal Cashback (650+ Stores)

Cashback tracks reliably when the retailer can see that your order came from Kick Cashback. That link is a small tracking cookie set the moment you click through from the portal — so the whole job is making sure nothing breaks that cookie between your click and your checkout. Run through this short checklist before you shop and tracking failures become rare.

Do these every time

  • Start at kickpay.co and click through fresh for every purchase. One click only covers that single shopping session — if you come back tomorrow, or buy from a second store, click through again. Why this step matters.
  • Accept the cookie or consent banner on the store's website. If the retailer asks you to allow cookies, say yes — declining or dismissing it can stop the sale being matched to your account.
  • Pause ad blockers, coupon plugins, and VPNs for the store and checkout. Honey, uBlock Origin, AdBlock, Pi-hole, AdGuard, and privacy-first browsers like Brave are the usual culprits. Full setup guide for every browser.
  • Only use promo codes shown on the store's Kick Cashback page. Codes grabbed from a third-party coupon site overwrite the Kick referral and void your cashback. How to stack codes safely.
  • Finish checkout in the same browser, on the same device, in one session. Don't switch from phone to laptop mid-purchase, and don't leave the cart sitting for days.

What stops cashback tracking

  • Buying through the retailer's mobile app. App purchases often can't be tracked — shop through the store's website after clicking from Kick instead.
  • Using a discount or coupon code that didn't come from Kick Cashback.
  • Blocking cookies, using incognito/private mode, or clearing cookies mid-shop.
  • Opening another cashback service or coupon site after clicking through from Kick.

What's only partly eligible

Some things don't break tracking but still reduce what you earn:

  • Paying with gift cards, store credit, vouchers, or loyalty points. Cashback is worked out on the cash portion of your order only, so the part covered this way earns nothing — and an order paid for entirely this way earns $0. More on gift cards and cashback.
  • Buying a gift card. Gift-card purchases usually earn no cashback at all. Which payment methods earn cashback.

If it still doesn't show up

Give it 7 days first — some retailers report sales in batches. If it's still missing, you can lodge a missing-cashback claim with your order details and we'll chase it with the partner network. Step-by-step in the tracking troubleshooting guide. These same conditions are set out in our Terms & Conditions.

Our Experience

We are a first-party cashback platform — we work directly with retailers rather than reselling another company's network. Our team negotiates cashback rates, manages partner relationships, and processes payments in-house. According to industry data published by IAB Australia, partner and cashback marketing represented over $1 billion in tracked Australian retail sales in 2024 (source: IAB Australia Online Advertising Expenditure Report). Kick Cashback is part of this growing sector and is committed to passing the majority of retailer commissions back to shoppers as cashback.

Our editorial team draws on direct experience working with major Australian retailers and global partner networks. We publish detailed cashback information, retailer terms, and shopping guides based on first-hand knowledge of how cashback tracking, attribution, and payments work. Where industry standards or regulatory guidance applies — such as the Australian Consumer Law administered by the ACCC, or the Privacy Act 1988 administered by the OAIC — we cite the relevant source so readers can verify our claims.
