Food & drink cashback in Australia — what to expect
Food & drink cashback covers online supermarkets, meal-kit subscription services, wine merchants, craft beer subscriptions, gourmet food retailers and specialty FMCG brands. Cashback rates vary by retailer and change over time, so compare the live rate shown in your Kick Cashback portal before you click through — the rate on the offer page is the one that applies to your order.
How to maximise food & drink cashback
For meal kits and subscription food boxes, check the offer page for whether a rate applies only to a first box or to ongoing orders, and for any eligibility conditions. For wine and spirits, look for case-purchase boosts — buying a case of 6 or 12 sometimes unlocks a higher cashback tier than buying single bottles, where the retailer's terms offer it. Where major supermarkets are partnered, online grocery cashback tends to be smaller per-shop but can add up across a year of weekly orders.
Cashback timing on food & drink orders
Subscription meal kits often stay in Pending until the cooling-off window closes — the live offer page shows the expected timing. Standard online grocery and wine purchases usually clear faster: most eligible retail cashback becomes Available to claim within minutes, while travel, insurance, subscriptions and any offer whose live terms say otherwise can take longer. Once Available, claimed cashback is sent to your nominated Australian bank account by direct bank transfer; receiving banks can take 1-3 business days to show the funds.
What's typically excluded
Most wine and spirits retailers pay cashback in line with their other ranges, but some specifically exclude alcohol from programme eligibility because of state-by-state liquor licensing rules. Gift cards, delivery fees, packaging upgrades and any tobacco products are typically excluded. Online supermarkets sometimes exclude specific brands or categories under exclusive supplier deals. The store page in your Kick portal flags exclusions before you click through.
